I made time this month to play along with Dusty Attic's month sketch challenge... When I first saw this sketch from Michelle Grant, I did not like it at all...and then it kind of grew on me and I am very happy with the out come...I did not know what to make from the two diagonal lines in the sketch, but think my lacing and the lace border from Prima did the trick...

And this is what I made from it....

I used BoBunny's Timepiece collection, did a little stamping with a La Blanche stamp and some extra brickwork stamping as well. 

A little ballerina from Prima...the photo was of Chantelle's Matric Farewell dance after all!

I build a little window sill scene by cutting the shutters and actually folding them back like real shutters! Some flowers and a piece of Dusty's Wrought Iron Trim, and it looks like a French Villa scenery!

The doily from Dusty and the Wrought Iron Trim were first painted with some Pearl Dabber and then given a generous spray with Lindy's Stamp Gang Mist...a metal embellishment and a cameo finish of the doily.

 I did some spider web lacing according to Kay Fatula's tutorial. It looks much better when the spacing is a little wider, but I did not plan on doing this technique there for I did not have enough width between the two pieces of patterned paper.

Some of you might have noticed a new flashing blinki on my side bar!!! It is a brand new free e-magazine that will be distributed online called PaperHaus Magazine that will be launched 1 September ! And if the work in there will be anything like the work of the  Editor In Chief/ Designer Frank Garcia...we will be in for a real treat!

As you all know I am an avid Tim Holtz fan, loving his grungyness...this young man has a very Shabby Chic style in his work and I am loving it. What is also very interesting are his detailed photos and step by step tutorials...and he even put his hand to a video tutorial...This is a young man that I hope will be a great success in the scrapping world and I am looking forwards to following his rise to stardom!

Tribute to Man's best Friend

~~~  there's one more ANGEL in Heaven  ~~~

Last month we had to make the very difficult and sad decision to send a beloved member of our fur family over the Rainbow bridge...Balkie has been a part of our family for 15 years and has brought us so much joy, laughter, fun and fond memories. He was a small pavement special...his mother was a dog, as was his father...LOL! He must have had some Jack Russell and Maltese genes in his DNA...His personality was surely to big for his size! About two years ago we found out that his one heart chamber was enlarged and although he was on medication, old age, senility, and deafness just seemed to creep up on him. In the end we used to think of him as two dogs...the younger, healthy on the go chappy and then the old one who just ate, slept, ate and slept again...In the end , he had what I suspect to be a stroke, and  we made the long teary visit to the vet. This then is for you Balkie...from all of us, a very hearty thank you for all you gave to us, opening presents will never be the same, for you are not there any more to eagerly help tearing of the papers in anticipation of what is inside...

The Angel Wings from Dusty Attic were layered, painted, dry painted and dusted with fairie glitter.

The frame on the photo was achieved by embossing the photo in an embossing folder.

The Grass Cluster and Sweet Pea Frame are also from Dusty Attic.

Goodbyes are not forever.

I used this photo of me and some German ladies that we met on a Catamaran cruise we went on during our vacation on Mauritius in 2007... I thought the phrase is quiet applicable to this photo...for I think life could be so GOOD living like this!!!

I was shown this frame over the weekend, the idea is to have a neat concertina fold...but of course I had to go and rough it up...a bit! 

This is a Dusty Attic piece that was Distress Inked, clear embossed, got some Distress Sticklers, and a puff of Dazzles mist!

I just love this beautiful flower from Prima...

This looks like phyllo pastry to me...

Another Dusty piece. Also distressed inked, stamped and dusted some Perfect Pearls onto it and finally a random coating of crackle medium...
