Memories ~ March Scraps of Elegance kit ~

Our Floral Fantasy kit for March at Scraps of Elegance also contained these beautiful papers from Fabscraps. We received different colours, for this page I used two sheets from the Lilac Delight collection. I used one sheet as background and also used it to layer behind my photos...These photos of my son were taken  some 27 years ago...he was about 4 years old at the time and is busy collecting Easter eggs here.

I used a light grey card stock that I stamped on and also did some masking with texture paste. I actually did two layers of masking, after the first one I used a stencil and some mist.

These circles came from bursting an air bubble that the mist made...love the extra unexpected design that I got that way...

The mist that I used is Namorado from Luminarte that was part of our Colour add on.

The beautiful flowers are from Prima called Jute Jovial. The bannister is also from Prima's Shabby Chic Treasures.

Quite coincidently there was a nest with eggs canvas sticker in our Embellishment add on...

Created a border and interest on the grey card stock with my own stamps and my new favourite ink, Watering Can Archival Ink.

Please visit the Scraps of Elegance on-line store for many more products, and keep your eye open for our soon to be released April kit...it is another stunning kit that will certainly be very popular as well....

Look not at the days gone by with a forlorn heart.
They were simply the dots we can now connect with our present,
to help us draw the outline of a beautiful tomorrow.

A Card for Scrap Africa

And in the blink of an eye it is the middle of February already and time for another Scrap Africa challenge!!! Challenge 26  is "Chipboard with a Difference" and it means you need to use some chipboard on your layout, card or altered piece, but it cannot be left raw and must be altered. This challenge is hosted by the lovely Ada Nicholls.

This of course is a challenge to my heart as I absolutly love working with and altering chipboard! We also have some beautiful projects from our guest designers and for this month have the talented girls from 7 Dots Studio visiting us, sharing their take on our challenge...just go and have a look at the gorgeous projects they share with us!

I opted for a card this month using some papers From FabScrap, Marie Antoinette: Garden and Perfumes. My chipboard is from Dusty Attic, Rose Vine.

I layered and punched several of the paper sheets. I achieved the effect of the top one by embossing it with an embossing folder from Couture Creations: Waterfall. Before placing my paper, I inked the folder with clear embossing ink. After embossing, I covered the inked areas with Sticky Embossing Powder from Ranger. After heat setting, I sprinkled the sticky embossing with Pralines & Cream Fairy Dust Glitter from Clearsnap. This resulted in the embossed, raised areas being clear of glitter and the de-bossed areas being glittered...

Layering my chipboard pieces must be one of my al time favourite ways of altering my chipboard...and this is super easy to do! All it takes is to wet the chipboard, let it sit for a few minutes and gently separate the layers, now you can either form them by hand, or as in this case, heat the layers with a heat gun and have the petals curl naturally! Once completely dried I painted with several colours of Distress Paints, stamped and added some Crackle Paint on the flowers and leaves and a little Clear Rock Candy Stickles on the stems.

I added two layers of Tulle that I distressed with my Heat gun and added a little Bisque Liquid Pearls to...

I am looking forwards to seeing what  different techniques our entries will use to alter their chipboard's!!!

Flowers don't worry about how the're going to bloom.
They just open up and turn toward the light
and that makes them beautiful.

Aug 2013 ~ Altered Photo Album

Hello every one...

For today's post I altered a photo Album cover for a friend who wants to gift it to her daughter and Son in Law as a wedding gift...The colours she asked for are Blue, White and Gray/Silver, and I added some yellowy Gold for some contrast.

I added some mixed media and quite some texture to the album. I glued some Lou's Heart Shapes down before I covered it all with Gesso and layers of Lindy's Stampgang Mists.

I adore how I was able to manipulate the Window with Shutters to fit the spine of the album as well.

On the back cover of the album I used a Lattice Door with, as the front window, a piece of FabScraps paper stuck to it. The embellishments are from Prima.

The treatment of my chippies are as follows...I embossed them with two layers of white UTEE, and while the UTEE was still warm, I stamped it with a stamp inked with brown ink. I then misted it with the following inks from Lindy's...Blue Hawaiian Blue,  Whale Watch Blue and Azure Sea Asters. I kept drying with a heat gun, moving the inks around until they settled in and around the nooks left by the stamping.

Apart from the blue's, I also used Grab a Guy Gold and Glory of the Seas Gold on the page.

This is what the window looks like after being embossed and stamped...

I used the following Imaginarium Design Chipboard pieces...

Hope you enjoyed this project and are encouraged to try this technique yourself...Please feel free to leave a message as I love reading them and it might give you a chance to win yourself a price pack of chippies...

Till next time, keep well.

Everyday Goddess and a Photo Album

Hello again dear blog friends! Patricia with my projects for the month of April...

Today I have a LO of my daughter Michelle taken at one of her best friends wedding last month. I am scrap lifting myself with this design...I have used it before and always wanted to make another, similar LO.

I had the LO finished and was anticipating what title to use when I received my parcel with new chippies this morning and this just suited my feelings for my daughter perfectly! I coloured the chippie with some Micro Micas from Lindy's Stampgang and rubbed some bronze colour Paste onto it.

The Embellishment 1 Border was also coloured with Lindy's Stampgang and cut in half to form a corner for my flower cluster.

Don't you just Love this treatment of Prima's Typo Bulb? I scraped the wording of with a craft knife and then stamped and embossed it with black embossing powder...It looks amazing...even if I have to say so myself.....

This little gift will be going back all the way to Switzerland with a dear Face Book friend that I met personally this week.

I formed the Edward Relief Border as a frame hoping it will resemble a very elegant door frame...Once again used Lindy's Stampgang Micas to paint the chippie. No treatment was given beforehand and I love the beautiful two toned colour on my ID chippies!

I achieved this look by placing a small Edward Relief inside an Oval Frame...doesn't it look to cute?

See how beautiful the Mica colours the chippie...

These are the Imaginarium Chippies I used...
