A Card for April's Couture Creations...

Hello again from me Patricia Basson...

Today I have created an elegant card for my posting on the Couture Creation Blog. I wanted to use my Die a little more than just as a cutting element and thus used it as a stencil to add some interest to my plain white card stock.

Using a Dauber and some light Blue Distress Ink, I first stencilled the background using the Tied Together Die from the Momento Ornamental Lace Collection. Using papers from the Damask Delight Paper stack I also die-cut and cut a strip to use as a border. Using another patterned paper, I cut a second piece from which I only used the diamond shapes to add as elements. I have used some foam dots to add some dimension to these pieces.

Using the same paper as for the Diamonds, I die-cut the Heritage damask flourish. I first adhered some Gemstones and then embossed with clear embossing powder, resulting in the Gemstones being embedded in the embossing.
To create the frame I used two of the Nested Victorian Square frames, laying them asymmetrical to add some interest. In the back I used a stamped piece of white card stock.

I also added some Embossing paste and a few glass beads and flowers...

Showing the die and dauber as used to colour my background paper.

The placement of the nested Squares to achieve my frame.

Using foam mounting tape allows for the frame to be lifted.

This handy tweezer with the LED light makes placing gemstones on ones project an absolute breeze!

Thank you for viewing my project...I hope I have shown something new for you to try...Please visit the Couture Creations Shop were you will find the products I have used and many more.
Till next time, Happy Scrapping!

Wonderful Time....Guest Design for 13 Arts

Good morning on this wintry Saturday...This will be my last project as a Guest Designer for 13 Arts and I want to send a huge thank you to Aida Domisiewicz for having me on the Team these past three months!!! Using her products and working with the amazing talent on her Team has certainly pushed my Mixed Media skills up a little notch...it's amazing how inspirational it is to be amongst the best Mixed Media scrappers in the world!

This photo is of my youngest daughter dancing her way into the International Team that went overseas in 2006 to represent South Africa in New York...Here she was dancing her Acrobatic Dance...

I have distress punched the Natural Beauty paper from the Faces of Spring collection. Using some Distress Inks I prepared a coloured background for some stamping and stencilling using Ayeeda Gesso.

I painted the Photo Frames with a thick layer of crackling medium and once dry used the Yellow Amber and Light Turquoise mist as a paint, painting several layers whilst drying in between until I was happy with the colouring. To finish it off I painted it with the Silver Glitter Paint.

After the gesso was dry and sticking down some strips of the Decorative ribbon, I dry brushed a little of the Peach paint over the raised areas.

I used some of the stickers from the Label sheets as my title and spot journals.

This metal decoration was painted with several Distress Paints and embossed with Distress embossing Powder.

Absolutely love the grungy look on this piece of the frame...

This then my friends is it...thank you for visiting my blog and please feel free to visit the 13 Arts blog for many more amazing inspirational entries and the 13 arts on-line Shop should you be interested in byuing some of Aida's gorgeous products...

Everyday Photographs...April 2014 ~ Couture Creations...

Good Morning friends...

I would love to share my very first project done using some of the amazing products from my Couture Creations Design Team kit...Apart from the cutting Dies and embossing folders, I also received some amazing tools, an abundance of different adhesives, foam tape, glue dots and paper packs. I will reveal all as I go along...to much to show all at once!!!

For my first project I used these photos of Francois and Chantelle as little kids in 1989! It was taken just after we build and moved into our new home...precious memories...

I used a brown card stock as base and a beautiful polka dot sheet from the 12x12 Sew Jo Paper stack that was punched and distressed.

I Die-cut the New York Street Light out of Teal Kraft-Core Core'dinations and used Glitzin Glamour Glitter Glue, Crystalina on it.

Sanding the Pink/Black ColourCore Cardstock revealed the Pink core of the paper. Here I used the Tied Together Die from the Momento Ornamental Lace Die Collection as a mat behind my photo. I also used the inside confetti as accents.

I placed the English Tea Light hanging from my flourishes...

I cut two sets of the Trudor flourish from the Sophia Collection  to create a longer corner border. I used a stylus to roll the leaves in order for them to curl.

My paper was coloured with some colour mists and I also used a mask and texture paste to create the brickwork effect.

I used the Heritage Die and Black and Teal card stock to create these bookends for my photos. I cut the Teal Die-cut apart. Also used the Glitter Glue to give the subtle shimmer to the card stock.

Using the Quick Release Die Paper between the Die and card stock, makes it simple and easy to cut and release intricate shapes...

I used the square Nesting Dies to cut my photos and card stock...making it easy for some one who tends to battle with cutting straight.

Thank you for sharing this first post with me, for those that might not know, Couture Creations is running a great give away during this introduction month, follow the instructions given Here to stand a chance to win some amazing products.

A Canvas for Scraps of Elegance, March Kit...

Some of the products in this month Creative add on really post a challenge to me, for I have never worked with any of them before!!!! But in the end I think I did not do to bad...of course I had to source YouTube again for tutorials on how to use them lol!

We received a lovely Canvas from Winsor & Newton and Artisit Paint sticks from Shiva...and that was were my head started spinning....These are Oil paints in a stick form and something I had to experiment with. The biggest lesson certainly was that I had to leave this to dry for at least 48 hours for the oil paints to dry, and also that none of my mists would settle on the surface, but all's good in the end, I still got the look I was after. At some stage I really wanted to go wild with different mediums and textures, but decided to keep this a little cleaner and neater....

I started my back ground with the Oil sticks. The colours we received are, Medium Pink, Dioxazine Purple and Teal Blue. They are quite easy to mix and blend with one's finger, having a colourless Blender stick in the kit also helped to smooth the colours. And this was were patience is a virtue...it has to dry otherwise it will just rub of on your fingers wherever you touch it...time to put it aside and proceed with another project....

I cut a mask for the Prima Doll 'Megan"and used the Balzer Bitz 'Tree Bits' and Orange Blossom Archival Ink to create a woodland effect.

Did some stamping and stencilling with different stamps and Prima and The Crafters Workshop stencils.

Did not forget the sides of the canvas...

I created Megan's dress and boots by stamping on three different Graphic 45 "Botanical Tea" collection papers, fuzzy cut them and layered on plain paper stamped with the stamp.

Here are a Prima Plume Orchid and Ageless Adelynn flower with a canvas sticker.

I also used the Bisque Liquid Pearls to add a little definition...
