Scraps of Elegance - Guest Designing for Scrap Around the World

August 2014 Challenge 16 - An Elegant & Textural Mood Board by Marilyn Rivera, http://scraparoundtheworld.blogspot.gr/2014/08/august-2014-challenge-16-elegant.html

This month we as Scraps of Elegance Design Team were invited as Guests Designers by the ever popular Scrap Around the World  to use their Mood Board as a starting point to design a page. As we are one of the permanent sponsors for them, I am feeling very honoured to join their Team for this challenge...

Authentic Memories

My inspiration came from the top left photo...I just loved the weathered look of the walls, the tall window in the back and knowing I had this photo of Michelle on the stairs sparked my imagination! Using paper by Marion Smith's Mad Tea Party 'Wonderland' from SOE's July kit 'Chasing Rabbits' and Lindy's Stampgang Sprays from the colour Add-on I set to work to create some awesome textures on the frame and paper.

I have had this frame in my stack ever since I stared scrapping and found great use for it now...have another one, might use it in another 5 years time...To achieve the rusted effect I first gesso'd it, then applied a thick layer of textured gel medium. After it dried I sprayed layers of Lindy's Flat Fabio's; Cafe-au- Lait and C'estla vie Cerise...Also dabbed some Rusty Hinge and Black Soot Distress Paint.

A metal ornament, Prima Junkyard findings and an adorable metal door handle received as a gift from Ingrid Gooyer add some interest to the frame.

I layered several of my Petaloo flowers under the frame, something I love doing to add some dimension and interest to my pages.

Absolutely adore these new Textured flowers from Petaloo...so much detail in them...
I wanted to add more feathers because the image of the lady with the hat was also a favourite...but in the end just used a few here. The black spatters are from Imagine Crafts Irresistible Texture Spray from an older kit.

My brick wall is a Prima Stencil with texture paste embossed with Ranger Antiquities Cement and Brushed Corduroy Distress Embossing Powder.

Do take the time to visit both Blogs for amazing inspiration by  both Design Teams!!!
