Unfortunately this is not my own garden...If it were, I would never come inside at all!!! I would spend my day on that little bench and just drink in the tranquillity and peace emanated in this photo.

Hello blog friends, I am sharing another page created using beautiful Dies from Couture Creation with you. I have used the 'Gate to Eden' and 'Roman Set' both from the Metricon Intricutz Die Collection.

I cut the gate twice using a black cardstock, I halved the first one to use on the sides of my photo and used the top of the second die-cut as a header for my gate. I bent the two side parts and filled them with flowers.

On my background I did some stamping and stencil work.

I achieved this beautiful rustic effect by partially embossing the gate with embossing real life it blends in beautifully with the garden scene of the photo...

The smaller Fleur-de-lise from the Roman Set was also embossed and places on top of the gate to form an accent point.

The flourishes and girl silhouette are chipboard pieces from Imaginarium Designs...we as Design Team were graciously gifted with chipboard pieces to use in conjunction with Couture Creation Dies...Thank you therefore Jane.... I have painted them with a light, sand coloured paint and dabbed some Antique Silver and Green Glitter Paint on.

My flowers are from Petaloo...I have had this flower in my stash for ages...can not remember who's it is...

Thank you for visiting me and my garden of Tranquillity....

In the garden I tend to drop my thoughts here and there.
To the flowers I whisper the secrets I keep and the hopes I breathe.
I know they are there to eavesdrop for the angels.

Scrap-a-Doodles Design Team 2014 Audition

It is nearly midnight and by the skin of my teeth I am taking the plunge to audition  for the first ever Design Team for our own local Scrap-a-Doodles!!! I have been a loyal customer of the Pretoria store and with a branch now only a few minutes away...I am in Scrappers Heaven...

I am showing these 5 pages, trying to show that I am a little bit of Mixed Media and a little Shabby Chic kind of scrapper. I would dearly love to be able to teach my fellow South African friends to not be afraid of different mediums and enjoy the different products that are available these days...

Good night and the best of luck to all who send in an application!!!

Be Happy and Smile...July Scraps of Elegance Kit

This page is made for the Round Robin that is going on at Scraps of Elegance facebook page...These photos were taken in the Botanical Gardens during our vacation on Mauritius in 2007.

Using Kaisercraft's Telegraph Road collection; Memo and Parcel, I first spread some Gesso on my background paper and dried it with my heat-gun. I then sprayed the Lindy's Stampgang Flat Fabio in Cafe au Lait and allowed it to dribble. I used flowers from Petaloo and chipboard pieces from Dusty Attic...

The chip boards were all coated with Gesso and painted with the Lindy's from the colour Add-on, Flat Fabio; Cafe au Lait and  Cest la vie Cherise and Peony Scarlet Red Starburst Spray. I painted them with crackle paint and rubbed some brown in into the cracks once they were dry.

The metal  birdcage was also Gesso'd and coloured with some alcohol ink.

After drying the first layer, I created the pink effect by spraying the red ink onto a craft sheet with some water and took a plastic bag to pick up the ink and pressing it onto the page....the result is this lovely water coloured effect.

I also stamped with a Kaisercraft stamp and the Heidi Swapp stamp from the kit.

I used some white embossing paste from Studio 490 to stencil and embossed it with Lindy's Embossing Powders Chateau Rose and Orange Creamsickle.

I used the Dusty Attic sketch for July and the following Lindy's Sprays;

Celebrate...A card for July's Scraps of Elegance...

This card is made with most of the products available in the Creativity add-on from the Chasing Rabbits kit from Scraps of Elegance.

I made a little flap in the top layer to create extra interest to the card, the paper I used is a sheet of Marion Smith's Mad Tea Party collection, Rabbit Hole.

Using a card from the Mixed Media cards from Strathmore, I coloured the flap by spraying a layer of Lindy's Cafe au Lait Flatfabio from the colour add-on. Once dry, I used a stencil and an ink pad to create the star-burst effect. I then sprayed droplets of C'estla vie Cerise Flatfabio. I also used a Crafters Workshop mask and Studio 490 embossing paste.

The colouring was done using the Watercolour Pencils from Fantasia. On the frame I stamped with the Heidi Swapp stamp and coloured with some blue chalk.

The title is one of the Heidi Swapp word stickers...

Thank you for visiting my very short post today...

Fabulous You...July SOE Kit 'Chasing Rabitts'

Today's page shows some of the gorgeous elements we received in the 'Chasing Rabbits' July kit from Scraps of Elegance...The photo is one of Chantelle...

I used the Mad Tea Party collection from Marion Smith; Roses R Red and Wonderland. I did some punching, fuzzy cutting and layering. Also used some stickers from the Kaisercraft Storyteller Sticker Sheet.

The flowers are from Petaloo, Fuchsza Burlap Blossoms and Teal Botanica Blooms. The little resin Angels are from Prima...they are the word sets...I bought all the words but find them to bulky for a page, now I'm going to tuck all the adorable angels all around my pages...The wooden leaves are also from Prima, inked with a little Peacock Feathers Distress Ink.

I am so inspired by the gorgeous pleating that one can find on Marilyn Rivera's pages...if you are not familiar with her work, please visit her blog, Treasuring Memories  and see how she transforms paper into masterful drapes...

In the kit we received a packet of watercolour heart shaped Tags from Heidi Swapp. I coloured mine with the C'est la vie Cerise Flat Fabio spray by Lindy's Stampgang from the Colour add-on. I wanted a mottled effect, therefore I sprayed it on a dry card, dried it and sprayed a second layer. I also used the beautiful stamp from the embellishment add-on, also from Heidi Swapp, with the Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. Using the same colour palette gives amazing detail without one colour over-powering the other.

Another Heidi Swapp addition to the kit are these sticker words...They have a lovely embossed look to them.

If you are not subscripted to the Scraps of Elegance Kit club yet and would love to receive it each month...I would strongly advice you to do so, for the kits are really jam-packed with goodness and the add ons are sold out the minute Melinda posts them...

never lose their beauty,
they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.

32 Years Together....July sketch for OUAS...

Today I am sharing my DT page for the July sketch challenge from Once Upon A Sketch...Our journalling theme this month is 'Numbers".

I chose a wedding photo of me and Georg, we will be married 32 years this coming Sepember.

I used papers from Blue Fern Studio called Blue Fern Garden, In Bloom and Signature. It is my first time working with the paper and am really loving it and wish it was available here in South Africa! My chipboard is my ever popular Dusty Attic and the flower is from the new Petaloo range of Burlap flowers...

Seeing as the theme is Numbers, I used the Measured Stencil from Ranger with some Broken China Distress Ink on the background and did the masking with the Mini Bingo mask from The Crafteres Workshop using Studio 490 translucent embossing paste with Oakleaf Olive embossing Powder from Lindy's Stampgang.

My clock-face was inked a little and randomly embossed with a little clear UTEE.

I first coated the chipboard with gesso and after drying inked with several green Distress Inks.

After painting the frame I embossed with Reindeer Moss Green, also from Lindy's.

Thank you for your visit...

A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love,
trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity.
The order varies for any given year.
